So a good place to start my catch up blogs would probably be our family summer camping trip.
As usual we went to Bournemouth in Dorset, but this year we tented instead of staying in a static caravan.
We camped outside of Bournemouth and stayed in Poole at South Lytchett manor. I would highly recommend this site. The facilities are excellent, very clean and staff were very friendly. There is a small shop on site selling pretty much everything, a playground and pub nearby.
We had bought a new tent at the beginning of the year a Hi gear Airgo Cirrus 6 and were keen to try it out.
So we threw all the stuff in the car including the kids…. And an extra one for good measure (our nephew decided to tag along).
The site staff were fab at showing us where to pitch and before we new it our home for the week was pitched….. But we weren’t too happy. Having pitched the tent twice before going away and both times on different ground we felt the front of the tent didn’t sit right and looked twisted. The made the tent a funny shape and put tension on the door zips. We visited the lack Go Outdoors to ask for advice but the advised we should be ok for the week.
So we carried on with our break…..
This was the husbands and our nephews first ever camping trip so I was awaiting the “I’m cold… I’m wet… The loo is too far away”. Thankfully there was none of that and everyone was happy.
For the first few days the British weather behaved and we managed to get to the beach We also visited Brownsea Island to find out about the history of Scouting with Scooter boy who is a Beaver. There are also quite a few Caches on the Island so we managed to do a bit of Geocaching whilst there, including setting our very first travel bug off “Bobble the Woggle”.
Our last full day there was the first day of the Airshow and the kids were really excited to see the Red Arrows. We had a wander around the different stalls and even bumped into football legend Gazza
But the British weather decided we had had enough dry weather and decided to rain…and rain…and rain! The Airshow was called off and non of the displays flew. We decided to head back to the camp and during a break in the rain we very quickly packed up and set off back home.
Whilst there we managed to cram loads in including visiting family, visiting the beach, boat rides and so much more. The weather was a disappointment but hey this is England!
The kids seemed more than worn out on the way home and can’t wait to go again!
Just need to to get a tent!!! As once home we dropped our tent at our local Go Outdoors who after several weeks of inspection have given us a credit note for out faulty tent….. Least it wasn’t just my bad pitching!
